The 126 year old non-profit Princeton Garden Theatre is proud to present our first-ever Princeton Cinematic Arts Award to Garrett Brown, a filmmaker and the inventor of the Steadicam. Brown’s Oscar-winning Steadicam stabilizer has been used on nearly 100 movies for the past 50 years beginning on 1976’s Rocky. Brown’s inventions wouldn’t stop there as he created the Skycam, Mobycam, and Divecam. His inventions have changed the way we view both film and live sports. This maverick changed filmmaking and his technological innovations has been studied in institutions all around the world.
We are honored to announce Garrett Brown as the inaugural recipient of this award as we celebrate his contributions to cinema with special screenings of The Shining (Sat 4/11) and Bound for Glory (Tue 4/14) leading up to Garrett’s in-person talk and ceremony at the Garden on Thursday, April 16th.
