The film follows Guthrie as a struggling young musician during the 1930s Dust Bowl as he decides to migrate out west where he finds his voice as a supporter of the working class. Earning the Academy Award for Best Cinematography, BOUND FOR GLORY is a visually striking and magnificently acted snapshot of the early 20th century. This visually dazzling biopic was the first feature to be shot using Garrett Brown’s newly invented Steadicam technology, and was immediately admired for its sweeping, dramatically fluid camerawork, for which cinematographer Haskell Wexler received an Academy Award.
